    Model

From a model shoot all the way back in June.

I like this in some ways, but am really not sure with it. She seems to have a Mona Lisa smile, making it hard to figure it out -- maybe that's good?

I've also provided a cropped portrait version, as I think it works as a portrait. Comments welcome.

    Re: Model

Its a good clean shot GB. I think either portrait or the 3/4 original work. My preference is for the original crop. I'm not crazy about her eye makeup as it makes her eyes droopy and sleepy looking but thats not your doing, just mentioning it. I notice on the left strap on her dress just where it meets is blown out as if it were some reflective material which is odd because the rest of it and the other side is not. Might be worth fixing that.
    Good work

this model is bored. no ounce of enthusiasm and attitude.

photography wise... light is good... framing is too centered... clean rouge hair, armpit skin, and some contouring.

    good job.

I dont like the crop, right at the bust, doesn't work. Agree, the model looks bored.

    Re: Model

Gary, thanks for the detailed critique. I sort of feel her eyes are the center of attention, but that perhaps her bedroom eyes are better for a soft, delicate bedroom scene, like her lying stomach down on a bed looking up at the camera, w/ shallow DOF .. I struggled with the crop, may just have to leave it as it was. Great eye on that reflective thing, whatever it is. I think I can fix it in about 5 minutes.

Phil, Charlie - She could have be bored; I'm not sure because I don't know what her normal expression is. Doesn't really matter though, just how she photographs, and I agree that she looks a bit unenthusiastic. I overheard her husband or bf encouraging her when I arrived, and its possible he was pushing a bit. Phil I don't think any other position of her in the frame would work here. Will look into the rouge hair and skin, but what/how to contour?

    Thanks for your comments!

    Re: Model

I have no problem with her expression. Call it boring, disinterested or what ever. Do portraits always need to be affected, sexy come, on style and mostly badly acted out.
She does look bored and it could be affected or genuine. Either way she has carried it very well.
    This is interesting.
I would crop this to just below the bottom of the bead/pearl of her necklace giving a head and shoulders only.

    Re: Model

Thanks Tom. Interesting comment. I feel the same that sexy, or may I say trying too hard to be, is becoming overdone (I now wince when I see a swimsuit model 'playing' with her bottom straps .. soo cliche). I don't know what's going on with this model and have looked at her other shots looking for a clue, but nope, no clue. My issue with a portrait is clipping her hair, I guess I would make a lousy hair cutter.

    Re: Model

Really very clear shot, focus is exceptional. I'd have cropped a little more on the right. Super portrait though.

    Re: Model

Thanks Shoot Me. This one was tough to make stand out. I like her dress, hair and make up, but I think it would look a heck of a lot more exciting in context, say a nice Victorian era hotel lobby. Maybe when I get better with cutting and pasting, it will be
