This is another title appropriate shot. When I opened this up my first thought was Yikes! Duck! Cool shot, but aren't bases like this often nervous about folks with cameras? You're obviously a quick draw with the camera to catch this one.

Good photo. I wonder how it would look as a very high contrast b/w?

I like the B&W better but because the headlight (?) is more fiery.

    Re: Mind you heads

I looked at it and worked out it's a flying egg-beater, and a UK base.
Then I looked to see who took it

I think I prefer it in colour, at the resolution here anyway.
I can overlook the lack of shaprness that way.

I'm now working in Basingstoke and racking my brain to work out where this is shot...

Roger.....I gotta go with the Wombat on this one. For some reason--maybe it's the yellow sky---I just like the warmth of it. Kind of like it's gonna be a long, hot day. I wish I could be more specific.

    Paul,

Was it the car that gave it away?

The air base is nearby in Odiham which is why Basingstoke has so many helicopters flying overhead.

If you fancy a pint then e-mail me roger.reading@readingr.com to arrange a time. I work from home somedays so lunch or after work is fine.

    John,

I agree, played with this for sometime trying to get a B&W i was happy with and I posted the best, but I prefer the colour.

Well to let you in on another secret it was a long cold day but sunny. It was -1/2 C when I took this according to the thermometer in the car.

Oh by the way this was taken from the field with the trees in and there are all sorts of varieties including holly being planted. I was trying to get the trees without the big tree in.

Actually no, it was the style of the fencing, the beacon light on the building on the right, and just the feel of the countryside looked like the UK. The killer feature was the shape of the concrete fence posts.

I expect to hear ride of the valkyries when I hear those blades

I meant to say that the color was better because the light was more fiery.

I hate to disagree, but the B&W print I fell doesn't have the impact of the Color print.
