I like the idea but for some reason the water seems a bit blotchy. I would try this same shot again but meter for the shadows (or dial in an exposure compensation of at least +.5) if your camera feels stubborn so you can get a smoother water surface without the black blotches.

Is this simply a photograph of the water? Perhaps it's just my monitor but I don't see anything else. It's kind of dark, too. Hmm...I don't see anything that's interesting here. Sorry !
I took many shots of this situation with the water, this one came out just as I was hoping, Its "darkness" and its "blotchy" water are on purpose. Its suposed to cross the line of photography and enter into abstract Art. I am more interested in playing with form and light and color than taking the perfect picture. The reason that I posted was to see the reaction to my work as art. There is no reason to appologize, we just don't see the same thing in this peice. I am disapointed in the reaction, but by no means offended.
If Art didn't evolve, we would still be blowing paint over our hand onto a wall.
Well, I got my answer, thank you for your critique.
I can see exactly what you were hoping to achieve and I think you achieved it if all you wanted was an abstract pattern. So far so good.
The issue here is whether or not it makes for a good photograph .. the problem here is that there is nothing much to go on. A little red reflection, a glint of sunlight, or something like that would lift it I think. As it is, I am not sure what response you were hoping to achieve. In that sense your other one is a little more promising, containing bubbles which break up the composition to a degree.
