Though I love this shot...did you post process it? The duck seems very surrealistic...almost copy and pasted onto the background. Even around the green on the facial area...it seems almost artistic. It's a neat effect, but too overdone for me.

    Good composition,

Actually, there is very little post process, a good crop on it because I had other ducks in the background. He is definitely not C/P there! LOL I have a 11 sat raised on this picture.....

    Here is the original.........

    Re: Mallard Duck

not much post processing but you've selected the duck and done a little processing which in turn makes it stand out a lot more against the BG and makes it look like you've done a lot when you really didn't.

I agree you've done a little post p but that surely can't be the original. IMO of coarse.

As for the shot itself, I agree that the duck some how looks like it doesn't belong.

That green in the duck's head is awesome.

You could try to do a slight blur around the border with a blur tool or something, perhaps it would blend better. You've done wonderfully at capturing the textures and colors.

    Re: Mallard Duck

lol, that really is the original image, only resized to upload, no processing at all on the original image, I got alot of pictures of this guy because his colors were so vibrant. Where I said I had the sat raised was in the first image.....not the original. The original image has had NO post processing at all.
I will see what the blur tool can do. I will also see if I have anymore pictures of him that show that his head was really that green! LOL

Don't worry about it! The way I worded it made it seem like I boosted the sat on the original (which to me would defeat the purpose of me showing you the original) LOL, my apologies to you actually, I made it very confusing.

    Re: Mallard Duck

Chow......mallards make great subjects. The colors just stand out so much better than most other water fowl. I've got a shot I took last fall, and the day was a little overcast but that mallard just jumped right out of the picture. You really don't need to post process with a mallard shot. I think they come preprocessed by Mother Nature;)
