    Malibu Sunset

Took these from Malibu, CA today with my brand new D300. I LOVE the camera.

We had a rainstorm all day, but it started clearing up right around sunset. I was already in Malibu hoping to shoot something else, saw the breaking through, and knew there was potential for a spectacular sunset. Mother Nature did not let me down.

I particularly enjoy the top two images for their composition and exposure. The bottom two images are also great for their vibrant colors and interesting lines, if nothing else. Overall, they're all very pleasing to look at.

Good eye for catching this sunset. And enjoy the new camera!

I like # 3 the best for the range of color but if you really wanted a great sunset you should have done what any prepared SoCal Nature Photographer does.

    Set another canyon on fire!
    No, I DON'T need that.

So I get email subscriptions, and I saw this on my Blackberry. As per usual I jump to the bottom of the message to read the post. After reading it I said to myself: "That sounds like MB1."

Nice shots! Definitely beat my expectations given the title.

The top two are nicest to me. I think if there was anyway to have gotten a bit more in on the left, like the one where the ridge is visible just a hair, that might have made them better, but I"m not sure. And i suspect you probably couldn't anyway, I also live in SoCal and tend to roam my coastal mountains, it often looks similar almost an excess of clouds sometimes in those conditions.

Thanks ... but what were your expectations, given the title?
