    Making a Wish

This was also from our walk today...Julianna was wishing on every dandelion she could find...lol.

    Emily,

Interesting shot and definitely love the concept here. My main critique would be not including her left eye...that really hurts the shot IMO. There's also a piece of grass (?) on the right hand side of her cheeks. Good colors though, and I think the tight crop would've worked perfectly if you had included the second eye.

    Well done.

    Emily,

This is lovely and I agree with Jared on the eye, however, there is also some lens flare on the right by the cheek.

perhaps that last finger included as well? These are nit picks though.

However as a parent, I think this is wonderful and a treasure regardless of the minor nit picks.

Great shot. I agree with the others, the crop is just slightly too tight. Nice DOF. Also the grass spec and (cookie?) crumbs on her lips should be touched up.

Other than that a great capture.

    Re: Making a Wish

    Thanks, Jared, Roger & Cyberlord...

I knew posting this, that the cropped eye might be a problem...I tried to crop around her to balance that, but unfortunately this was one of those shots that I knew what I wanted to capture, but just got it a little too tight around her face.
The speck on her check, I suspect is one of the dandelion seeds, and also that's what's creating the blurred parts (lens flare)...they were flying towards me, and I think it was close enough to my lens that it's like a dust spot, you know?
I'm sure I'll get the chance to try something like this again, with Julianna's love for dandelions...so we'll see what happens next time!!

Thanks again for the feedback, guys...

    Re: Making a Wish

I like the close crop, even would suggest cropping more on the left. This will focus the viewers eye on the image of the dandelion having gone to seed and being blown apart. The crop at the top and bottom (across the eyes and fingers) actually balance one another for me. If you pulled the left side in a bit, just to the edge or even slight acros the seed blowing that way then they would lead the eye down and across to the dandelion. Unusual maybe, but very directed and workable.

Colors are really pleasant and its an outdoor shot so its fine to have a hotter spot as long as its not completely blown out. The flare in the hair and her lower cheek look like some healing brush or cloning could fix it easily. The dark seed/shadow or whatever on her left cheek needs attention I would concur.

Fun picture and hope you and your daughter had a great time!!

Thanks Dr G, for your thoughts and suggestions on this! That crop idea might be a possibility...I will see what I can come up with.
