I like the second. Not only because of the color but because the "bubbles" are now concave which I find more appealing. Also, it seems like you have a greater DOF on it. Both are great though . You are going to tell us what it is right?
Very interesting images, chunk. Have to agree with D in that I like the second better because of how the drops look. Not really sure what you were shooting, though.
D., srobb, and sweetdeal, thanks for the responses. These are shots of soap bubbles. Here are a couple more, with a third shot for scale. The shots in the first post were a thin layer of the bubbles on a transparent tupperware lid.
Chunk, at it again with the great ideas. I like the first one, but the second is also very good, so it's a pretty even call for me. i only wish for s little more dof but that is very dificult with these macro. I'm wondering if these type shots would make a good experiment for doing two or more exposure with slightly different focal points and then blending them for an ultimat dof macro. just an idea. Great work, as always
Thanks for looking and commenting Gary. My Panasonic P&S is not an ideal setup for extreme macros although I'm fairly satified with the results within its limitations. For this extreme a macro I usually need to tilt the camera lens out of parallel with the subject to keep from shading the subject with the lens. The blending idea is a good one and I'll have to see if I can figure out if my camera and I are capable of that. So far my shooting has been mostly offhand of found subjects so doing some setups and trying to slide some more light onto the subject would probably be a good thing.
Great idea - I am definately going to have to try this at some point. Love the patterns and the effects you get with these. I did think the first set were water droplets on some glass never thought they were bubbles.
