    Macro Leaf

This was a dead leaf on a tree full of Japanese beetles. This is apartently what they do to such leaves.

    Hi Almo,
I like the first photo. The pattern of the leaf is very nice. I wish the backgrounf could be more blurry to enhance the theme. Nice shot.

    Almo,

First shot is a little shallow in the DOF. I would recommend a little more DOF to incorporate the whole leaf into focus. The second one, are they doing what I think they're doing?

Nice colors in both of them,

Almo, Ilike both of these. #1 Ilike the green foilage surrounding the dead leaf is sharp and frames it. #2 the beetles are tack sharp and very colorfull. ( is that... toomuch deTail). Good shooting you dirty bugger! Mark. What equitment did you use for these?

I like the top picture of the leaf. I find these eaten leaves to be quite beautiful and usually have a difficult time passing them by when I see them without taking at least one picture! I think you have done a very good job with this one. The bug picture is also good but might be better if you were in a bit closer to the bugs so we could see more detail.

I used a Minolta Dimage 7i and a monopod/ballhead combo. Plus polarizing filter.

    Thanks!

Wow Almo, it seems you have a knack for getting good nature shots. Love that dead leaf shot. It's sharp and has lots of interesting details. The one with the beetle is pretty good too.

....enter cheesey "gettin it on music" hahaha. That second shot is funny!
Almo I like the detail in both, I agree a closer shot of the bugs would have been interesting. The first shot is great, however it gets real soft towards the point, as well as the base, and appears totally infocus in the center. I would have liked to see the entire leaf focused with the surrounding intact leaves on the blurry side.
You do have a knack for these nature shots!
