    Macro experiment, A Nice Twist

The amazing part of this photo, I think, is that I made it from a set of close up lenses (+1, +2, +4 & +10,... 72mm) I bought for $12. Even the case in comes with is nice.

Anyway, I love macro photography, though I am far from being anywhere near proficient. This photo is just me experimenting, but, as always, ways to improve are what I am looking for.

It does not seem as if the closest parts are in sharp focus. In macro it is important for some part of it to be crisp, but I can't tell where that is here.

Yes, you are correct. I let the lens af because it was difficult for me to look through the view finder (angle and progrssive glasses). I shall try again, making adjustments. Maybe try something not as challenging as a corkscrew.

with a macro, you either need a ton of light so you can use a pretty fast shutter AND a narrow aperture, or you need a tripod. f/2.8-5.6 in macro is actually very little DOF.
