Lovers at the Bay

I think this has to be one of the best photo's I have taken to date. I saw the couple sitting at the bench, and knew I had to take the shot. It was a spur of the moment shot, so composition was not quite how I would have liked it, but these things happen.

Did I nail it? Does it work for you? What can be improved?

The horizon is tilted to the right and likely you are too far away from the kids on the bench. You did good trying to include the overhead branches as a framing element but they are kind of just hanging there in space without anything to pull them into the rest of the shot (like a tree trunk or more foliage in the foreground).

To me the white balance looks off but this monitor sucks so it is hard to be sure.

Overall though I do like the image and it might make a nice postcard for the marina.

I like the image, and it is a shame you couldn't get closer, but like you say it was a spur of the moment thing. The WB looks ok on my monitor. I agree with MB about the framing. Nice shot.

also ( i know you can't control it) the fact that the light is on the white boats, but the people are in shadows makes me drawn to the boats completely.

filling the frame with them more would help this though.

howevere for a snap shot type shot its good.

Thanks guys! I did want the tree trunk in the photo, but there was a couple sitting below it, so that was out of the question.

As for the tilt, I thought I had fixed it, obviously not. I'll have another go at it. :mad2:
