Smile Love some feedback and input please.

I am an avid photo hobbyist. i am sort of fantasizing of printing some of my photos to see if i can convince a gallery to let me display on their walls. i have no idea how to proceed or even if i am naive (well, i am naive indeed, just how much is the question).

i have no idea how or where to get things printed. i don't even know if my work would be considered of interest to galleries.

and of course, i would love some input on my photos.

    thanks so much.

Very interesting, but I am not hesitant about asking a dumb question. What is it?

Well, the 'what is it?" factor certainly makes it visually intriguing and you separated the fish from the background very well. Colour, focus and lighting look good as well.

To make a couple of suggestions, I would back off a bit to get all of that "appendage" in the photo and try to choose an angle for the best depth of field to avoid for example getting the closest part of that appendage in focus.

I look forward to seeing more unique photos from you. Welcome!

Let me correct the last part of the above.....to avoid for example getting the closest part of that appendage OUT of focus.

Pram, welcome to the forum. you'll find lots of willing and knowledgable members here that will help you. If you would like to know how to get involved in exhibiting your works you can pose the question in the Viewfinder forum. . . http://forums.photographyreview.com/...splay.php?f=17

As for your photo posted here, it looks to be a offbeat, artsy type image that may work better if were part of a series of images related to a certain theme or topic. I like the exposure achieved, but for me it seems the framing is too tight. hope to see more from you.

gary and ronnoco - thanks for the input. i certainly appreciate your thoughtfulness.

as for cropping and framing. i always like to approach things from a composition aspect first - my graphic career talking - as i feel it draws the viewer in.

i will check out the viewfinder forum as well.

    thanks!

Welcome pram, We are almost neighbors. I live about 75 miles northwest of you. The lower portion of the picture is out of focus, maybe on purpose? I agree it should be a series. I hope you hang around and share more photos. As far as prints. I don't know what quality you are looking for but check out www.mpix.com out.

hi greg, nice printing resrouce for sure! thanks.

yes, the lower right of the picture is out of focus. accidental? probably.

i am always hesitant about "series." perhaps a triptych ? i have a couple more shots. just not in similar composition.
