    Love forever?

This is something that I'm working on to include in a photo essay project for school, with at least 8 photos total (to convey a mood or story, etc). It, in itself, isnt entirely great, but my goal is that it helps to convey the mood, and I think it does that pretty well on its own... you let me know. Then after that I have another that I'll just include here that is ok, another part of the essay, and without saying what its supposed to be about (although it might be obvious after seeing the first shot) let me know which version you like more. Thanks.

    Re: Love forever?

    Strange colors in this series.

I like the way he's fading out. You just need one or two more images to showing him disappearing completely (?) Not sure I like the blue effect. I like the color of the paper on # 1, but how the background is the same color... what can I say, I just don't like it. It makes it hard to distinguish the pieces of paper. Everything else is nicely placed. Not overly sure about the theme, but it's a good shot. Will see how it all ends up.

    Re: Love forever?

Thanks for the comments, they always help me think more about the shots. I made the colors how they are on purpose, in the shots, and not in post processing. The first had a bit of red light added, and the second was done with a different white balance to make the blue (accident at first, but I liked the effect). I know what you mean about the similar colors on the first one, but I'm not quite sure what other surface would work since I wanted a wood table for the paper to be on (and the brown paper also looked best).
In the second one I wanted the shade of blue so it wouldnt look too plain, and it also gives the feelings of sadness/loneliness/darkness (and maybe pain?). The more I look at that photo (the one with fading, since it is the better one) the more I can find about it and the more ways I can interpret it.

Also, remember this is only two photos of at least eight that will be in the photo essay in the end. I think it will end up to be pretty complex and there will be a lot of ways to interpret it, and I'm being careful with how I arrange everything in it.

I'll see what others have to say now...

    Re: Love forever?

I do like the concept behind the first one - it's definitely worth a reshoot imo taking more care over the colour of it (its just a little saturated I think). If you do use the image as you've done it, you might also want to clone the tiny little bit top right which looks as though the table ran out. In terms of a photo essay, you could even do a couple in this style, with different words/colours.

The other one does nothing for me however.

I would be interested in seeing the whole panel once you've completed it.

    Hope that helps

    Re: Love forever?

I think I did put a little bit too much saturation on the first one, so that's not hard to change, I just dont need to add any. I can also crop out the top part where the edge of the wood got into the photo. I'll probably leave it how it is and just edit it differently.

Even I think the second one is a bit strange, especially on its own, but it is a contrasting image with another one I have that, when seen in the essay together will make more sense and carry more meaning.
I think it should be interesting to see how it comes out, since I have a few different kinds of photos that I'm putting into this (including sunrise and sunset, etc).

    Re: Love forever?

dwaugh ... I came across this on another forum I belong to and it was so similar in concept to yours that I thought you'd like to see it. (Hopefully you can see it without being registered - if not let me know and I will see how I can get it to you).

    Re: Love forever?

I like the words but would use a different background as someone has already pointed out.

As for the person, I think a triptych presentation with the person totally disappearing would work really well.

Thanks for the link to the other similar one, it is interesting.

What kind of a backgound do you think might work better? I'll see what I can do and post again.

    Re: Love forever?

White rock might work as a better background. Or some other material that you'd find in the field, but it would have to be rocky. It would look like an archaeologist had found clues and was peicing it together.

the last one is a very fun idea to play with, but you need a better location/lighting. This one isn't doing it justice. I like the first shot too. it's tricky in that at first it looks like the pieces are actually indented in the wood.

    Re: Love forever?

Not an expert here, but I think the first one would work ok if only the words/letters were bolder.

    Re: Love forever?

a couple of ideas: I like the words on the crumpled paper.. distance seems to be one of the factors involved so perhaps a map(might be too busy, but you could blur the map) for the bg or even a blackboard might show up the brown papers better. I also like blue w brown so a blue bg would work too, perhaps a blue folder or notebook?? or you could scatter some envelopes or plain paper behind the letters on the brown desktop and then you could introduce any color you wanted. I think you want to keep the bg plain tho to focus on the bits of papers and words. I really like how you arranged the words and pencil. Keep at it. it is working......(an off the wall idea--if it would work-- float the papers on water...)
