Neat shot, Roger. It would be fun if this were titled "I Think I Can"...hehe.

I like the colors and the extreme difference in sizes of the boats...the only thing is that I wish the front boat were a tiny bit sharper against the sky. I like it a lot though.

I like the scene and your composition.I also wish the ships were in sharper focus. What was your focal length?

Roger - not bad, but I find myself wanting something more .... it's just too spartan for me, as I can't see much detail and there isn't enuf happening to make it that interesting. The overpowering blue color doesn't sit well with me either.

Sorry to be a little negative here, but I guess every shot can't be perfect.

    Re: A long tow

    Emily,Gary,

This was taken at a 35mm equivalent of 200mm lens - the Oil rig and Tug are approx 2 - 3 miles away and I'm doing 6knots crossing the English Channel in my boat heading home after a 2 week holiday and I had been up since 02:00 that morning.

I guess this could be counted as extreme photography :-)

About 2 hours earlier we saw a whale which surfaced just as it crossed the front of our boat. Boy does he have bad breath.

Gb, I know how you feel this is a big crop of the original which has a lot more sea in it. However I wanted the picture purely because the light as the sun was rising brought out the reds on the oil rig. By the way at full size on the screen there is a lot more detail to both the boat and rig you loose so much in the re-size and compression.

I am so impressed with the Canon Powershot Pro 1 lens and sensor - it really picks up the detail.

If you want to have a look at the full size I'll put it up on my web site.
