    Long jumpers

    Just started doing some sports photography, I went to my local athletics club for a competition and shot the long jumpers, what does everybody think, critique very welcome!!

    Nice shots, but they look like they fall from the sky. it would have more impact shot from the side instead of facing the jumper, also if it had a bit of motion blur. just my opinion.

    Lens allowing, use a wider aperture; the background is kind of distracting.

    A good start, but you also need to think about the background as well as the foreground.
    #2 has a post growing right out the top of her head, and she's impaled on it too !

    The people in the background are distracting, you could move to your right and put them out of the background, and remove the pole from her head too.

    I see you're using 70mm f/5.6, I would want to use longer lens and get further back.
    If you have a f/2.8 or even faster lens then you could use the widest aperture to blur the background.


    Did you notice we have a sports forum too ?
    I think more of our sports shooters would comment there, plus others have shot athletics and you'll find some long jump examples there.
