    Lone Pine Moon

Dawn at Lone Pine, California. Not exactly sure which is Mt Whitney, but it's here.

This image should be sharper. Shot with a tripod etc, ...

    Re: Lone Pine Moon

I love the subject matter. I lived in Lancaster for a year and never got out to the Owens valley to shoot photos. I kick myself now.

The color in the water is so much more saturated than the color on the mountains, this could use a ND filter to help tone down the mountains and brighten up the water. It seems like there is some detail lost in the mountain peaks too. The horizon is pretty much dead center, which is supposed to be a no no, but I think it's OK with a reflection shot like this one.

Holy Smokes, Greg. That is really nice. The colors are tremendous. You know me and reflections so this gets extra specia bonus points. Very nice!

Nice colors. I agree it should be sharper. Was it windy? I was up in those mountains and it was quite 'gusty' up there.. Whitney is the last peak you see on the right of the image.

Great shot. The reflection seals the deal and makes me wish I was there behind the camera shooting it. Awesome!!

I love it, the setting, the colours with the greenery down the gully on the left and the moon. Brilliant.(I notice that when I put up a shot here, I lose sharpness, they all look slightly out of focus but not as I hold them where they are sharp. probably cause I don't know what I'm doing .

Nice work here GB. I do think that cloning the distractions on the bank would help.

    Re: Lone Pine Moon

    Tks all!

I think this one needs work, definitely, as the middle areas are too brown and unattractive and the contrast is sort of blah. It wasn't windy, but somehow it just didn't come out that sharp. I need to check the rest (have MANY of them) to see which is the best.

EOS - I did use a graduated ND filter on some shots but don't believe I did on this one. I should have awoken 1/2 hr earlier / planned it out better. I see the loss of detail too - argg. But I have many shots and there may be better ones.

I have seen many photos of mountains at sunrise (or sunset) with high contrast that worked well. I am not sure how this all happens (or why it doesn't happen). Check out this image I did a quick search for to see what I mean: http://fc07.deviantart.com/fs30/f/20..._steuberli.jpg

Greg, do you really think the RVs are a negative? Open for debate.

Lang, you might not be using a very small aperture?
