London Tube - yet another one

    Hi all

2/3rds of the way through my London Underground photography permit. This is one I did this morning. I am quite chuffed by it .. the slightly eccentric character and the words of the poster seem to come together. It made me laugh anyway

    What do you think?

    Cheers

    It works for me.
Not sure I get the sign but then that's probably why its effective.

I hate to get away from the critique here Mike, but since you mentioned it, I'd like to know about the permit you mention.
    What's up with that?

Brian - like a lot of sensitive areas in these security conscious days, they don't really like people wandering around the tube system with cameras. However, they have a very helpful film and photography unit which will issue a permit for a month (which you have to pay for). You get a security pass which hangs around your neck and you have to sign in at each station, but you can wander around all you like then, provided you don't use flash or tripods.

frog - they are adverts for a film festival - it's a quote from some film. The underground has a lot of these at the moment. I suppose you'd call them teasers.

I love that perspective. The sign gives the photo just the zing it needs. I notice you grabbed it just as the mob of people was coming. That appeals to my slasher movie impulses. Anyway--wonderful photo. Do you think grainy black and white will work?

Aaron & Don - thank you for your kind words. I have since discovered that the quote is a line from Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. Two things bothered me about the image: it was a little messy at the top, and the perspective was pretty skewed. This is a revamped version - maybe it isn't as good - I'm not sure?

Nice shots. Number two seems to have the edge just a bit. No tripods, what ISO were you shooting?

Hi Michael - all this series has been done at 1/30sec hand-held and ISO800 - I let the camera sort out the aperture.

Don - thanks for the B & W suggestion. I hadn't thought of that, but it works pretty well. In fact, I think I prefer it. I tried it with grain, but I prefer it straight.

    Cheers

I like it Mike. I wish I could see a little more into the tube but it's obvious why I can't. Still a nice picture. Great work on the edit too.

The b&w edit is really nice. Question, how did you change the perspective of the right half? Care to give a brief tutorial?

I am enjoying the B/W here. I find myself attracted to that old guy with the cap and only wish he was more of a feature in the composition.
