    London Tube - last time

Hi all .. I am coming to the end of my permit to photograph in the London Underground system. This morning I got four "keepers" I think which is more than usual. The one I have put in here is called "Mind the Gap".

You can see all of the images (so far) in high res as well as a mock-up for an exhibition panel at:

As always, any comments are very much appreciated.

    Cheers

Nice set of photos, I liked the way out the best, but I'm use to seeing that red donut with a slash and what ever. If your like me did you have a butch in the reject folder also?

    Good photos.

I thought of "the gep" as a tentacled monster that reared up in front of the doors and dragged people to its lair under the platform to devour them.

It is pronounced gep and not gap, isn't it?

    Nicely captured!

But I loved your "more than a hotdog" photo. Great use of the ultra wide angle.

Another excellent shot in this series. Turned out to be a great gallery Mike. I think Journey To The Centre Of The Earth is my fav but, they are all great. Looks like you made the most of your permit

Re: London Tube - last time

Thank you so much everyone for your kind and encouraging words. Fortunately, Way Out, Mind the Gap, and A Terrible Mistake (my own faves) print up pretty well too.

I will probably be going down one more time at the beginning of next week, but it is just to "mop up" a few less successful ones with reshoots. It's been fun and educational - the first time I have ever done an extended project like this. I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I think I might leave this to rest and maybe get another permit in a year's time, when I have had the chance to reflect on this experience.

    Thanks again

    Cheers

What a great eye for composition, you have, sir!
I enjoyed your 'self portrait' and know it wasn't easy to aim the camera just right without having the viewfinder to your face.
Personal taste goes to Southwark Station, Northbound Red Shirt and Bank Station Commuter. All are excellent.
    Keep Shooting!

    Mike,

Glad you had a good time as a Mole - You must have got paler  - my project in London is comming to an end finally and the next one is heading Swindon way so I won't be travelling on the Tube much soon.

I looked on your site and its an interesting set of photos for the exhibit. Need to look at them closer before I critique. Will do that tonight if I get time, just back of hols and still in catch up mode.

Mike, a really strong set of Tube shots. i like them all, especially "southwark station"
This is also very good. The persons foot not quite touching the platform yet and also not obstructing the letters at all. Very well composed and perfectly timed.
    Good work, Mike.

    Mike,

These are terrific - Southwark and the Journey to the Centre of the Earth are my favourites, but how did you get Emma Thompson to pose for the photo with the speach from Hugh Grant from Love Actually?

Your a very gifted man. Honour is due - is the board for the Fellowship?

Re: London Tube - last time

Aww thanks Roger .. you would make me blush if I weren't such a shameless hussy

The board is really just a mock up of an LRPS panel (which I already have). To be honest this is probably the first time I have ever done an extended project like this one - and for the first time I see the faintest glimmer of the possibility of an Associateship. For that, however, you need 15 and they have all got to be crackers. My intention is to let this one rest a little, then apply for another month's permit and see if I can build up the portfolio some more. I think that, in time, if it starts looking strong enough, I will know it.

In the meantime, I have some nice pics for the coming season in the camera club competitions

    Cheers
    Mike

PS - well spotted in the quote. The only one I can't identify is the hotdog one.
