    London tube

    Hi all

Yet again I've been down into the London Underground - my mentor keeps demanding more images!

For a change, these two were taken inside the train - as before the idea is to portray loneliness and isolation, even in a place which millions use every day. The first is called 'The Glance', and the second is called 'No Contact'.

As always, any comments are very gratefull received.

    Cheers
    Mike

    Re: London tube

Mike, I have enjoyed your ongoing series of Tube shots very much. These two I feel are probably the weakest of the lot though.
In both shots, the yellow vertical pole is cutting through the center of the image which at first sight could look like two seperate images. My personal opinion here is that neither shot has a particuliarly interesting moment or subject captured. The scenes look too ordinary. I imagine a good scene being that guy that dozes off and starts leaning on the person next to him, and that persons look of disgust. Or, the old Asian woman dressed in old world clothing sitting next to a young teen dressed "hip" and bouncing to his ipod. Just a couple of examples of what I might think would be interesting to view in a train.

Mike I think the first one could be a bit wider on the left side. I find the refections interesting and it also adds depth. The color seems a touch off on the young man as well. The second one works for me. It reminds me of Tunas shot with the pole running up through it with the pigeon. I like the lady being in clear focus opposite the blurred person rushing onto the train. I too have enjoyed the series. Nice shooting....

Thanks guys .. I agree with you .. I know that candids aren't really my thing. I did four pics today, and my mentor didn't like the two candids much either! So, I guess they are destined for the 'also ran' folder

However, he did like these two ....

The first is called 'Old Dear on a Cold Day' - the second is 'Rushing for the Train'

    Cheers

Mike, those last two are very good, especially Old Dear. It is a great composition of a simple and interesting subject/view. i really like the motion blur on her as well. Quite effective. May be even more interesting as a b&w.
