    London Tube #2

Hi all .. I spend another morning down in the London Underground system. This one was taken at Baker Street station (Sherlock Holmes and all that) as a train pulled away. I haven't spend much time doing action ones of trains, but I liked the diagonals, the colours of the tunnel and the large "Baker Street" logo on the wall.

As always, any comments are appreciated.

    Cheers

The colors and diagonals are very strong and this is another good one from you.
I don't know for sure but am wondering if the the focal point was on the 'way out' sign.
Maybe if the train had more motion blur.
    nit picks. Good shot!

Hi frog - I think you're right about the motion blur - so I've added some! It was handheld at 1/30 and a pulling out train isn't really going all that fast. I've also tidied up the way out sign. Maybe I will call this "Watson, the game's afoot!"

    Cheers

#2 is great. I think the motion blur works well. Nice placement of the two signs and perfect exposure.

Thanks Greg ... surprisingly, it is reasonably well lit down there, althought still only enough for 1/30 sec at ISO 800. I suspect though that when it comes to printing this up, I might have to apply some sharpening to the "Way Out" sign.

    Cheers

    Mike,
I really have nothing earth shaking to add. I do like the array of colors. You've pretty much gotten all the input you need from Greg and Frog.

Yes, I think number 2 is working some better. If I was hand holding at 1/30th it would be a blurry jumble. Are you steadier than I or do you have vr lens?

frog - it's a Pentax K10D .. the SR is built into the body, so it works with all my lenses. It works pretty good - like you, I would never be able to consistently hand-hold at that speed.

John - thanks for having a peek

I do like the color I've seen from the Pentax's!

As a long time A.C. Doyle fan and having read all the Holmes saga (I've two 'original' Strands with an episode of the Sign of the Four, and a complete issue with the Speckled Band) this is particularly a fun photograph.

The only discordant element (and that's my Americaness showing) is the camera in the roof of the tunnel.

This is one of my favorites here for some time. Fine photo!

Not bad.. I wish everything besides the train was rock-solid sharp Mike, but it isn't easy setting up a tripod in a public place like this. Nice colors in that subway
