    Re: Lodi Lake

First of all welcome to the forum.
This may sound really critical but there are a couple of things which jump out at me.
The first one is at the bottom of the picture where the reflection is just a tad too bright and secondly maybe try to catch the lake with something on it maybe a boat. All in all though good shot.
I'm glad I can't develop the pictures in my head

    Re: Lodi Lake

    Hi sacriledge,

I lived in Lodi from about 1980 to 1992, and so this photo brings back some memories. There used to be a huge wall on the southwest corner of the park near the entrance, which blocked viewing of the swimming area from the street, and which had served as a great photo op for years but unfortunately they tore it down quite some time ago.

I think this pic shows the back part of the lake? Which is really the Mokelumne river if memory serves me correct. I've done some fishing for steelhead there but all I ever caught were suckers!

What I would suggest for your next photo op here are several things:

    1) don't shoot into the sun like you did here, unless of course it results in a dramatic effect such as in certain beach photos taken at sunset with clouds. In fact, it might have helped to wait until the sun went down over the horizon, and then you could have got some nice silhouettes.

    2) also try shooting in the very early morning, when the water is calm and the light is soft and just starting to glow upon the treeline.

    3) your framing is good, but there lacks a center of interest for the photo. Perhaps a duck swimming across the water or a fish jumping out of the water might help.

    hope that helps!

Yes it is the backside... and sadly... you can only take pictures from one side of it... meaning... if you take them in the evening, you have the sun facing you....

    but well ;)
I know i should try to take some pics in the morning... just never had time :/

    anything else?

    Re: Lodi Lake

i''d say it is a pretty basic shot. besides what others have said. it really has no focus or action to it, so it doesn't keep me interested very long. its a good first photograph to help learn from. but one thing i would work on is trying to find an interisting or unique element to add to the picture... like a boat or birds flying, floating past.
