    Living Statue Project in HDR

Walking downtown this evening, I saw a couple of guys doing the living statue thing (they had been going at it for at least 2 hours, and since they were really still, I decided to try some HDR)

It took on an interesting effect. At first look, i thought the red face and weird tones did not work, but the more I look, I find there is something to it. It has almost an illustrated, or cartoonish quality, the reflections in his glasses and the quiet bg brings it out like a pop art portrait. I feel the process lost some of the deep black and getting it back with a curve or level adjustment may get this picture popping.
    Interesting

What intrigues me is the reflection in the sunglasses.

Very interesting. The process gives this ordinary portrait some real magic IMO. How did you take multiple exposures of a human subject?

He was being very still. The Living Statue Project is a public performance/social experiment by Aaron and Jeff, where they would hold a pose for 2 hours in a public place without even speaking. (in front of a movie theatre)

They were recipients of some pretty harsh abuse from people of all ages, including a lot of verbal abuse, and even physical abuses and threats of physical abuse, through which they didnt move at all, it's amazing that just because they knew that these artists would not do anything about it, people felt they had license to degrade themselves to being such dirtbags as to threaten and physically abuse complete strangers.

I like the reflections in his glasses, but wish that both lenses had the same image. Background is only fair. I think it's good as an expt but not sure the red skin color works in the long run.
