A little fun - try an edit

Just a little fun - not critique. This is a grab shot from the hip of a funeral that was taking place when I was in Istanbul in May. From the hip as, obviously, I wanted to be sensitive to the mourners.

What can you do with it? Obviously, in this case, feel free to download and play with it. If anyone wants a larger res version by emial, PM me.

    Cheers
    Mike

Well, I like a good challenge Mike. This was tricky given the angle of the shot and trying to maintain the somber mood of a funeral. Anyway, here's what I came up with...

You guys did a good job with a very difficult image. I did get a few closer ones - but all shot from the hip and all with people obscuring the coffin. The system seems to be that the coffin sits on those concrete plinths for quite some time while everyone pays their respects (in Muslim tradition the person probably died just the day before) - so it is sort of an outdoor wake. It was taken at Suleyman's Mosque (where Suleyman the Magnificent himself is buried).

Aaron ... I don't think I could have done any better than yours

Instead, here's one inside the tomb of Suleyman himself. Suleyman's tomb is the large one in the centre. The others are his wives, and the small one nearside one of his children. I had to be a little discreet about taking this as it is regarded as a holy place (notice how the women all have theitr heads covered according to Muslim tradition).

Suleyman was the greatest of the sultans and was, by all accounts, a very remarkable man.

    Cheers
