Nice detail but cropped a little too tight, IMO.

Unfortunately (maybe) this isn't a crop but the full frame. I did get some when he was further away though.

    Thanks for the input.

personally I like how the picture runs... the beak is in line with the left border of the picture and gives it a very intresting look. Nice picture you did a good job on it

The crop is good. Like you, I take a lot of bird shots and while you want some of them to be crisp, clear, ID shots, there is room for something more unusual (like this.)

    Hi Dadas
This is a good image that I think would appeal to the abstract set as well as the nature lovers and I suspect that there are some folks who are both, like me. ;)
Beautiful shapes left in the negative space and the sinuous line of the neck is very interesting. An inspiring angle that reduces this bird to it's basic elements. So cool!

It is a very nice image, and a great use of the beak, and as others have said, the negative space. The curves are wonderful, and the placement of the eye is excellent. Good work.

no, crop's too tight on the left. If the neck were in focus, it would be a different story, but since its OOF, the in focus part does not take up enough of the frame, and is not given as much attention as it should have for how detailed it is. It's a very good closeup, just needs better framing.

I really like this, expecially how his beak frames the photo and the curve of the neck leads you through the rest of the photo. The texture and colour of the feathers and the sharpness of the eye - terrific.

This is definately one for framing.

    Re: little blue

I have come back to this one a few times and decided that I really do like it. I think you framed it just how it needed to be. As CL said, sometimes you like to have a nature pic that borders on the abstract and this one definitely does. Color is good, the oof focus part on the neck does not bother me and the use of the bill to frame the left is wonderful. This would make a good one to print and frame.
