Colour or B&W? And does it do anything for you? or is it a plain ol' point & shoot?

Of coarse I could've shown the face, but where's the fun in that?

I like the B&W version better. I find the BG to be a bit busy, especially the green posts, an it draws my atention away from the lion. I find the B&W version makes your subject stand out better. I would like to see the lions face tho.

Liban, i like the colored version best as I find the colors actually allow the statue to stand out stronger. And, there is not enough in just the faceless lion in itself to hold the image and so the bg colors and textures add another dimension. The orange and the green posts go well together/

Wow, you actually like the green poles. I thought it takes away from what's other wise an ok shot at best. But I agree with the bg and textures. That's what made m post this shot. I love the tones of the rough stone. Also I've blurred the bg manually a bit because my DOF wasn't all that good to begin with.

I agree, everyone that sees this shot asks for the face. If anything like you said, it's a bit intriguing. And by the way, I didn't even take a shot of the face. lol.

yeah, I think it's because both colors are running vertical in the frame and allow a calm blending of the soft muted tones. If either color were running any other direction, then i think I would want the greens desaturated. But, it seems to work in a positive as it is, for me.

Hi there. Just wanted to let you know I've been coming back to this image the past few visits and I finally figured out what I like about it. It was very difficult for me to reconcile the facelessness of this statue and while I love the textures that seem to pop out more in the black and white image, the color image actually gives the lion something to LOOK at and makes me want to look beyond to see too. Interesting depth! Of course I reckon you took it from the side you took it from because that was where the backlighting outlined it's shape so nicely. At least that's the way it looks to me.
