    Lincoln Memorial

Taken last month. Too pedestrian? I know with some subjects, like this, the shots tend to look redundant (if you've seen one, you've seen 'em all). I was going for a different angle, rather than straight on. C & C welcome, as always. Thanks.

    Re: Lincoln Memorial

    John,

I have a problem with the path leading my eye out of th picture and preventing it from wandering effortlessly to see whats on the left.

Other than the composition you did a good job on the exposure.

    Looks ok from here, Greg.

Did I nail the red x?

    What is a red X ?
I'm not a big fan of the angle. It's so close to being straight on that it might as well have been straight on.
If you are close by try again but think a little more outside the box. what does the side angle look like?
how about isolating a certain part of the building?

Shooter, thanks for the comment. I'm nowhere close, so I can't 'do over'. I'll take your suggestion to heart though. I guess I was just too busy being a tourist, so I won't be posting anymore pictures from D.C. They're all too 'same-old, same-old'. My fault though....thanks for the wake-up.

    Re: Lincoln Memorial

It's still a great shot and I would love too see more... sorry if I sounded mean ...
I am the same way though as soon as I pick my camera up it's like I forget how to take a picture. thats probably why I only like 1 out of 100 pictures I take.
There is so much to take in at times like that as long as you got shots to remember your trip then you did well in my books.

Nawww, I knew your intent was not mean.....you made good points. My problem was I'd put down the camera over the winter, and this trip was my first opportunity with it again. I forgot a lot of what I'd learned here.....:mad2: We're hoping to get back there someday, and I'll have a little more time to really think about what I want to shoot.

This sounds crazy but is there a way to hype the clouds?... I kept looking to them for something...Drama?.... I would love to see this shot with an even more Dramatic angle, use a wide angle lens... If it is not going to be straight, make it way crazy angles... but I am just a strange eye... I do love how it looms above... and you almost remove all the identifying features so it almost could be anything... I do like it , but like you say now I am excited for how you can really shake it up!..

Then They came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionists. Then they came for the Catholics and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came after me- and by that time NO ONE WAS LEFT TO SPEAK UP."

JDoc....I think you hit on what Shooter was saying. I wish I were able to get back there and try those ideas out, but alas, I'm not. Too bad for me, thinking like a tourist! :blush2:
You can rest assured that if I ever get the chance to go back, I'll take a different approach.
