    Like a New-Age Superhero

This one makes me imagine "Butterfly Man," teaming up with Toby McGuire to save the day. Comments?

This shot is sharp and very well exposed. It's a very good composition too... Unfortunately, the central leaves is a distraction.

Gosh this Tamron of yours.... I should get my hand on a macro lens and try my luck some day ;) !

    Thanks for being an inspiration!

I don't know if it's too late at night or what but these were my honest thoughts:

1st I noticed the red and black / then the unfortunate location of the leaf

then I thought that I would like to see more detail on this butterfly.. Also, that it didn't really look like a butterfly to me ( I guess with the wings behind him/her/it it didn't strike me right away)

I didn't know butterflies came in that color.. lol.. I guess that's why these are exotic? Not many of them around.

Clicker. . this is no ordinary butterfly. . . this is ButterFly Man!! lol LavaLamp, I really like your imagination. I can see it too. The big black eyes and the stance that you caught it in. . .also the cool red and black colors of this are great. I agree about the leaves being a distraction and some more dof,, just a bit more. But a cool subject and good sharpness around the eyes.. The eyes and wings look leathery. . keep em coming

Instead of "Butterfly Man" call it "The Great Papillon!"

My wife LOVES butterflies. She's a painter and uses them as subjects quite often.

Maybe I should consider a macro lens to help capture more subjects for her

    Love the shot!

I agree with the others that the leaf in front of the butterfly spoils an otherwise very nice photo. Did you get more shots than just this one? With a subject like this I usually try to take a lot of shots to get just the picture I am looking for. Even then I don't always get it. I was shooting a gulf coast fritillary this past weekend and that little bugger kept getting behind the flowers and in all sorts of bad positions. Thankfully I was shooting digital so I could take plenty of shots and get some that I was happy with.
