    Lest we forget

    "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

    We will remember them."

All present respond: "We Will Remember Them"

    Re: Lest we forget

Pete - This one has a lot of promise, but I don't quite connect with the casually dressed observer for whatever reason. Perhaps it's because she has her back to the camera, or that her dress is just too casual.

However, I do see what you were trying for: a person signifying peace and bliss, contrasting with the soldiers and the war they fight. Maybe if she were holding a flower it would connect with me more (can you add one?).

    Re: Lest we forget

Thanks Greg, I think what I'm trying to depict here is, the ground swell of interest in the young as to the military history of our country. When I was young it wasn't cool to show any empathy with the armed services. Having said that I still joined the Air Force straight out of high school....
What piqued my interest in this was the contrast of young lady's bright colours against the sombre tones of the old warriors
A flower could be an interesting addition.

    Re: Lest we forget

Pete I like it and I think it works well. I see a message and not being from your country I am sure I don't understand it all. My usual thing when I see something like this is to ask Mr, Google,
I think it is a very nice image and other than dressing it up a bit. I would remove the pole on the far left, the poles above the soilders, the stick under the childs knee and perhaps the bush on the right, I always go for aesthelic look myself. A clean image with a message, changing elements but being true to the story line and history. A fine line when working with Photoshop,
I would maybe cut the grass/weeds as well.

You might crop the right side as well taking the guy in green out of the frame. Plus the guy that appears to be looking at the girl is wonderful, even though he could be looking at you.

Might be a bit flat, but I like the idea.

    Re: Lest we forget

Thanks for your thoughts Greg ,I will revisit this I think. The words are the forth stanza of Lawrence Binyon's poem " For the fallen ", this verse is well known throughout commonwealth countries and adorns many a war memorial.

Thanks Marc you could be right about that.
