    lens flare

This portrait is of my daughter sitting outside on my porch. I'd like to know what you think. I thought that the lens flare was cool. I did it on purpose, but I don't know if that's something people really like. I was wondering if it's artistic at all or just plain silly. :shrugs: Your thoughts?

Doesn't work for me. It doesn't look deliberate enough--more like an error than art. I think if you want the flare, you have to feature it more prominently, and in some way that flatters, or at least plays off of, your little girl.

I don't like lens flare at all. I have went and retook or just not used photos because of lens flare. and I'm agreeing with Impossipede on this one.

Cute picture, but I agree this lens flare is only taking away from the picture rather than adding. Sometimes I find a picture with lens flare to work. I have one that I felt good about, but most of the times it does not do any good and is better without.

In this case the lens flare doesn't serve any visual function except to dull the image. I've seen lens flare work as a strong picture element when it follows a certain direction, adding a dynamic to a photo or where it emphasizes the presence of sunlight.

wow, i guess i'm the odd one here, i think the lense flare adds, maybe even more flare would help. i thought it helped set a happy and care free mood.
