I'll be honest Roger, those look like cup trays you get from McDonalds
That being said, this is a great "abstract" type shot. The various textures, the kind of "messy" pattern works great IMO. The top pieces of lead are a little hot, but I still think it works as it adds tonal contrast.
I like this one. One change I might make is to crop off the top part of the frame. The change in contrast and lighting top to bottom changes the overall repetitiveness of the shot, and IMO messes it up a bit. If it were tighter, it just may look better. As well, the background at the top of the picture is too different from the background on the bottom. The latter textures add to the feel, the former take away. Overall, the contrast is nice with a nice industrial, gritty feel.
Greg,
This is a boat yard and the background is the metal cradle and wooden chocks holding my boat up. I know what you mean about the crop and I've played around with many versions of this. I think I'll go back and have another play with the crops

I think the white stuff is the mayo
Just to put it all in context - the boat yard with my boat with a freshly painted bottom. The lead is at the bottom of the ladder
