    Layers

What do you guys think? Bland? ordinary? I have mixed feelings about this shot.

    Re: Layers

I love the scale you've shown here Liban! It is indeed a very layered photo with all of those roof tops and buildings not to mention the river dividing everything up. I would almost say it's too busy except that the person in the frame (Hooray for you for including humanity!!!) has a lovely pocket of space that surrounds and separates him while including him in the view, there's good breathing room. It let's me think that I am seeing from his perspective. This would not have been so interesting without the human element IMO. Very well seen and composed. Where is this? Portugal?

    LIban,

Trust Cindy to nab all my comments - so down to nit picking - Try darkening the sky a tad. There nit pic over.

Did you visit the busy shopping/cafe area across the river. Looks like a lovely river.

Forgot to mention that I like it.

    Re: Layers

I must say that this is a great shot. I feel everything that is included here is in the right place. I think the brilliant placement of the guy on the little path is crucial. I can spend a lot of rewarding time just scanning from front to back enjoying every bit of detail.
    Very well done indeed.

    Re: Layers

    Cindy,
I enjoyed your thorough critique and observations. I wish I could put my thoughts as well as you put yours. I agree the person has saved this shot a bit. Thanks and yes it was in Portugal. The city of Porto.

    Roger,
Yeah, i hung around there almost everyday I was there Porto is a great and totally relaxed city. Thanks.

    freygr,
I do have a panorama of this scene, I'll share it around here sometime. Thanks.

    Tom,
    Thanks for the kind words.

    Re: Layers

Liban, this is a very good photo. I agree with all of Cindy's assessment here. Also, I feel that by having the last row of houses in the FG below the pier line in the BG, that this helps set up what could have been a very busy picture into an easily digestible set of "layers" as you accurately called it and allows the viewer to comfortably sort through it all.
Darkening the sky could improve. . .
    Great work
