    Re: Late Night Shopping

I love this photo, so many layers of story telling going on, the strong vertical lines, and the people and mannequins make the shot. The girl in the pink shrug adds a nice bit of color to the lower right of the pic. Too bad about the blown out highlight in the "Soso" store. Not a lot you can do there except maybe wait for people to be walking in front of it.

    Hi Jacqui,
Thanks for the detailed analysis of the shot. By the way, the name of the shop is SaSa, although the merchandise is only so-so.

    Hi Yoyo,

I like this shot a lot. Handheld? What is your setup?

One thing I like about this is how the bottom is bright with the people full lit, and it gets darker as me move up with the people in silhouette. Great planning!

    Cheers,
    Tim

Yoyo, nicely framed and well composed. . .and good subject as well. The only thing I find hurting this for me is the heavy contrast, which I imagine is due to the lighting situation there. It makes all the details and elements of the image a little hard to take in and identify. Thats just me, though. Still a fine shot.

    Hi Tima,
Thanks for the kind words. The settings: ISO 400, 1/50s, and f/4 with mirror lock-up.

    Hi Gary,
Glad that you memtioned the contrast. The high contrast was deliberately made with PS. I also worry that some may not like it.

Echo many of the comments abovve but this really makes me feel as though I am looking at the stage of a large theatrial performance or a musical, the lighting, the camera, the action....

    Thanks for sharing

    Hi Herriot,
Yes, I had the same feeling when I took the shot.

    Re: Late Night Shopping

I'll echo a couple things Jacqui said...about the great vertical lines and the girl in pink. My eye is drawn to her, partly for the color, but also because she seems to be the main subject among all the other people in this...her walk seems very purposeful.
    Love this shot!
