    John,

Your second shot is fantastic, great eye, great light and very nice and sharp subject that contrasts really well with the dark blurred background. I prefer it to the third shot purely for the inclusion of the leaf from which the stem originates, works well in balance with the other leaves to the right and left of the image.

    Thanks for sharing

Yep, I like the second shot best as well. Both starburst shots are great, but the vertical crop of the second is terrific.
I like the composition of the first shot, but the colors seem to be too "bright", if you will. I'm still working on fixing this in my own flower work...reds and purples are tough to get as deep as they actually look in nature.

im not a fan of the first shot at all, the dof isnt doing it any favors, the composition seems sloppy, and i dont think theres anything very unique about the plant either. That said, i think the second and third shots are amazing! Terrific focus and DOF, excellent composition ideas with the leaves in the corner. Symetry is really doing favors to teh shot! One of the better shots Ive seen in a long time, especially of a plant! oh yeah, and Bender rocks too ;).
