This is a really cool picture. The trees look almost menacing, or like the boy is about to venture into a new land, a la Narnia, the way he seems to be looking through them...

    I really like it!

I really like this but something is nagging at me. I think it may be the shadows on the left since they're so heavy. But the scale is really wonderful!

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan

This is truly amazing, and brilliantly captured as expected from you.

My reading when I first saw this is that the trees are alive, as in Lord of the Rings, or Harry Potter and are about to part to let the little boy through; but then it also looks as if they are about to crash together to swallow him up and give him a good thrashing as soon as he enters the gap they are forming.

Kinda looks like he's taking a whiz. ;) But that's just a first impression. He's obviously not, and I like the shot. The trees have really neat textures and shapes. They look like they could almost be boulders. The leafless tree on the far right is a little distracting to me, but not a big problem. Over all, I think this is a great shot.

Is this medium format, or just cropped from your usual 35mm RF? Did you happen to use a blue filter? Just curious...been reading about filters.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Yes, Paul, a rangefinder (MP this time) which means 35mm and cropped. No filter - though marvelous things can be done when using channel mixer...
