    Lake Sunset

I took this while trolling in from fishing last week. Comments please. Seems like something is missing and I can't quite put my finger on it. Also, I couldn't figure out how to upload the pic into my post using the sites system. Sorry for the inconvience. Thanks! Ted

Yes, very nice colors indeed but here's the problem.
First, the horizon cuts your composition right in half. Immediately, that makes the composition very static, uninteresting.
Also, the right side of the photo is too bare, too much of the same... too much water, too much sky. So, if you draw an imaginary vertical line right down the center, you'll notice the left side of the image will become a lot more interesting. I think you can save this image with some horizontal and vertical cropping.

I agree that the centered horizon is an issue here-it also doesn't seem level to me.

I think that leveling the horizon and cropping to remove about 60% of the sky would improve this a lot.
    No, I DON'T need that.

I agree with the crop and I'd also crop from the bottom up to just below the limbs poking through the surface.
    Beautiful colors

I would crop from the top to just above the curve of the lower tree branches.
Leave the stalks in the foreground.
Otherwise there's just too much featureless orange for me.
