    From the Lake Shore Yesterday

As with the seashore photos, here are a couple more from the bird thread on viewfinder. Your comments and suggestions are appreciated. Taken with a D70 and Sigma 50-500mm, mostly at 500mm.

Another very sharp couple of bird shots! I was immediately grabbed by the first image but now it is the secoind that really stands out in my mind due to the angle it was taken on and a little more going on, wasn't so keen on all the empty space on the right hand side of the top image, both are sharp where they should be and nicely blurred as is needed to make the subject really stand out. Thanks for sharing!!

Re: From the Lake Shore Yesterday

I like the bottom image , as it is simple and very well exposed. The birds profile is attractive and the crop is tight. The top image does not catch my interest somehow, and I think that the curve of the edge of grassline in the bg following the curve of the birds back creates an off balance comp, imo. Placement of the bird and sharpness is fine.

I really enjoy the attitude expressed on the first bird's face also the oily colors in the feathers but must agree with Gary and Herriot that the second image is much more appealing overall.
