    Lake Michigan Squatter

Long time no post, hope everyone's doing well!

We just got back from camping in Michigan. We were breaking our camp when I discovered this fellow under our tent. He'd found himself a small damp patch of gravel under the corner of the tent and had moved in... I took a few shots before moving him to a shady spot on the lakeshore.

I wish you had turned him/it around to face the sun.......as it is the face is a little too dark compared to the nice exposure everywhere else. If you are going to go with this image I'd say print it so the face is correct and everything else is a little light.

Nice to see another image from you CaraRose. I agree if he had turned into the light for you his handsome features would have been better exempted. I do love the fact that you got down on his level and that you have a good DOF that keep him and his immediate surroundings detailed but that blurred the rest of the image that could have been very distracting. Nice to have you posting again.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

I think putting a vignette or putting an omni light on the frog will bring it out a bit more. Other than that great DOF. It seems like an f/2.8 shot, right?

    Re: Lake Michigan Squatter

    Thanks everyone!

He was fairly skittish (considering his new damp shady home was just pulled off of him, I can't really blame him), so once he stayed in place I decided to take the shots instead of risk having him take off. It would have been nice to have all of his face a bit more detailed.

f/5.6, 1/160. My lense isn't much of a macro, so this is cropped in from the original shot.

I tried to lighten the shot a bit... does this help at all, or is it now too light overall?

unfortunately, it looks like the focus is off on this one. it's too bad because the background is nice, and the pebbles are a good texture, but the focus is on his mid body instead of his eyes.
