Great shot, just wish the tail wasn't cut off on the bottom. Other than that, you nailed it on this shot. Very simple, with great contrasting colors, and a nice, strong use of composition! Way to go!

    Hi,
The shot is well exposed. I think the black background is a very clever choice, which really makes bird stands out. Nice shot!

I'm not sure about this. I like the shot of the bird, but find the pic too dark for my taste! Its hard to decipher an outline of the bird! Just my opinion!

    Hi Rakesh,
I think you have a very nice exposure there. Good going. My question, however, is about the crop and frame. It seems a little thight. I'm wanting to see more room below the tail.

I have another pic of the same individual on a different perch and diffrent background. I think while shooting birds, it is very difficult to chose background and lighting. U have to make do with what u got.
    Jason maybe u like this.

Thanks Herriot. I am more of a birder than a fotographer. and it is very rare for me to get close to a bird and shoot a pic. too. normally i do that just to observe them. here i was in a boat. early morning and had real fun as i cud observe them from close quarters and then shoot them too.

    Re: Kingfisher

I like the second post (green foilage background) over the first post (black background). Both pictures have great DOF to outline the bird, however the second has better contrast and provides more focus to the subject.

    Re: Kingfisher

Both photos are great, I prefer the second one as well. Probably because it looks more natural than the first. I can imagine how tough it must have been to get this, as those geese gave me a hard time, and they came to me. Great job!
