    I think the first is too close as there is no visual clue what is going on; i.e; playing in a sandbox. They could be childs hands doing almost anything. Perhaps if it accompanied another photo which I'm sure it actually does.
    I like the b/w and soft focus.

    That's funny I know exactly what's happening in your first image, having a son myself I've seen hands like those many times.

    My one comment is that putting your copyright in the middle of your image really distracts from the image.

    On a low resolution black and white image, I don't think a copyright notice is really necessary and for that matter they are copyrighted even without the notice.
