    Keep or trash?

Here's one of my older photos of two chickadees. If this were your photo, would you keep it?

I like the wings but unless I was really into birds (I'm not) it would be trash because of the lack of heads.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Fair enough, MB1.

So, what about the other folks? Ten and so views later and only one left a comment?

Hey, this is a critique forum so I believe you're allowed to speak your mind..."like it", "not like it", "trash it", "it hurts my eyes", "it's a shame that you posted this". "I don't care", etc., etc.

I've been thinking about this some more. I think keeping it or not depends on if you have better already saved. If not then you might as well keep it; if nothing else to remind you to get something like it only with better whatever it is that makes you think it may be trash.

OTOH if you have lots of similar images and you think this is marginal-trash it.
    No, I DON'T need that.

Sort of unique in an abstract way, but hard to imagine a use for it.

I'd delete it unless you can think of some creative filter and paint and whatever p.e. you'd want to play with sometime when you're bored.

That's why I still have it. This photo was shot last summer. Apparently it's nowhere near "good" and is trash bin bounded. I do think there's something about it though:

    1. The lighting. It's a back-lit shot but without the birds in silhouette.

    2. There're two chickadees in action in this shot, both with their wings spread. One is about to take off and the other one about to land. A split second later there would be no shot if not totally different.

    3. I don't know when I would and could get another shot like it.

It was a lucky shot, if we could call it that

Here's to show the size of the bird:

    Re: Keep or trash?

Don't you dare trash this. It's full of energy and movement. It's dynamic. Maybe if you put in a circular frame you can emphasize its abstract quality.

No head - so you mean "nice ass"

    Just kidding.

We like birds and are amused by them. We have 2 parrots and 3 other birds at the house.

Had the head shown, I'm sure I would like it, but even more so if just the one bird were in it without the second bird out of focus.

But who knows, I'd have to see it to know. Were they visiting a spot where you can wait for another similar shot?

AE, I don't know that I would necessarily say to bin the shot, but I'm also not going to say that it's a wonderful work of art. Beyond that though, I'm glad that you provided some explanation about why you posted it. I'm often intrigued about why some people choose the pictures they post.

    Almost forgot your question. Sorry.

I have access to that spot. Haven't seen any chickadees around there the few times I walked by.
