hello icicle, the closer FG is too distracting and really overwhelmes the rest of this shot. The rest of the shot is fine and i like the smoothness of the water at that shutter speed.

I love shooting at night! No crowds and you're forced to slow down. I agree with Leels. The FG elements are distracting because they are so bright. Other than that, I like the image.
How did you light this? Is it natural moon light or did you use an artificial light source?
Re: Kalama River- Night Shoot
i love the smoothness of the water, but that bush is distracting, looks like you used on camera flash?
Re: Kalama River- Night Shoot
no flash, just a coleman lantern behind me about 10 feet or so.
And yes just moonlight.
Re: Kalama River- Night Shoot
Good efforts, probably better results than mine would have been. But yes, the blown out foliage is distracting, the crop is better but you can still see a bit in the lower corner - may be salvageable if you do some careful cloning though.

Update:I'm going to be entering my picture tomorrow.
I had it matted today and enlargend to a 11x14 print.
I may not make it in to the top three, But sure hope I do.
