Just sitting around (Warning - some nudity)

digging out some pix from an old shoot. I don't know what to think about this shot... the composition and pose seem offbeat, but it still has it's allure - maybe it's its irrelevance?

    Nikon F-100, Kodak print film.

    GB,

I'm with you. I don't know what to make of this shot. The model has a curious pose that is neither sitting or kneeling. It is a bit ineffective. If this was a model shoot, nude or otherwise, the rock in the background would seem to have offered some opportunities. Hard for me to say really as I have never been on a model shoot let alone nudes. Where was this taken. The scenery in the background is very southern California.

The background is too hot/distracting IMO.

I'm loving the nook in the rock. Perhaps a different angle to block out the background and show only the rock & model would be better? Accentuating the two complimentary shapes.

    What's a Loupe for anyway?

Re: Just sitting around (Warning - some nudity)

Thks for the comments. I see a lot of people have viewed but not too many responses -- guess no one knows what to say on this one.

Loupey, I agree, the background is a problem. Another photographer was actually shooting this particular model and I didnt want to get in the way, so I just shot from where I was at!

CF - Yeah, she isn't standing or kneeling... I think that's what's unusual about the pic and pose. I personally dont see it as ineffective because I'm not sure what the objective was anyway, but I guess I can see where someone might view it like that. She really wasn't real tall, so couldn't go for an Amazon-type shot. It was at De Anza Springs about 75 miles east of SD. We chose that spot because we felt would afford us the op to shot the models in various attires (or not) without drawing a lot of attention. Black's Beach would have worked too I guess. I might try it out again in early spring before it gets hot.

Re: Just sitting around (Warning - some nudity)

what i find unattractive is the fact that it seems the model is not in a pose, she is halfway between two poses. like you said, the kneeling/sitting thing is interesting, but the eyes, if included, are still what primarily draws me in as it is where we can guage emotions best. and the eyes are what ruin it for me. maybe with a bigger version i could see differently, but at this size it kind of looks like a beginning of a smile/smirk, and the quick blink that comes along with it. Just my thoughts.

and i agree with previous comments about bg, etc.

Thks livin4lax09. I guess her eyes closed are sort of a negative. Also, to me, her pose (and hair and smile) seem more like what you would see in a cosmetics advertisement. I guess that's what's so strange about the pic ........
