PT...this is such an odd picture to me...I like it, of course, but the people in this seem to be so out of place, in a way. You have the violinist, with the music stand, which by the way, I LOVE the way the back of the music has the repeated instruments. Then you have the two people listening...and they just seem like they should be in Midsummers Night's Dream or something...
Cool picture nonetheless...
It looks unreal. It looks like a summer photo with kids in outdoor attire then you have the musician in a hooded sweater in the foreground. It's unusual in a good way.
It might be my monitor but the contrast might be improved. The definition is a bit lost in the girls outfit on the right. Her upper body seems to be a big white pillow.
I would crop the right closer to the girl. I like it better when I hold a piece of paper up to it.
I wish I could see the musician's eyes more.
All IMO and minor critiques. I like the shot but I feel there is greater potential.
Excellent and I would not change an iota.
There's the intensity on the players face as if he is having some difficulty trying to concentrate. The pair behind him by contrast are relaxed and don't seem too bothered too much. Enough focus also in all the right places.

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan
This is really weird and that's certainly one of the reason why I like it so much. I agree with Emily's observations. Also, the people and the violon almost glow which adds to the oddness.
This picture isn't going to leave my mind anytime soon.
Thanks everyone
This is from the FolkLife festival that just occurred. My mission was to shoot a roll of 36, never taking the same picture twice and only capturing people. It was a good experiment on shooting streetstyle photos. This was the best photo in my opinion...its just very odd.
Emily - Midsummers Dream...I totally see that and think that it would be a good name for the photo
Manasca - Yep...typical clothing for the Pacific NW...it gets in the upper 60's and people are wearing everything from shorts / tank tops to hoodies and coats. I will be taking this back to the darkroom for some minor adjustments on contrast.
Tom - Thanks! I think some minor improvement on contrast could be made, but I'm really happy with this photo...1 out of 36 aint bad
Seb - For a quick as this photo was taken, I was very happy with the exposure. Having them stand out that much from the background does add to that odd feeling.
Cheers.
I'm always mentally photographing everything as practice.

Hi PT,
What a very nice job on this. I pretty much agree with Seb here.
Cheers,
Tim
I'm not sure how I missed this until now...the composition is awesome. The contrast might be a little high (yeah, I'm guilty of that a lot ) but who cares? Sometimes content is just more important than that. I don't know what everyone's issue is with eyes. Why must they always be present and completely in focus? Bah.
