    Just Hanging On

    Yeah, another macro from me

By now you have a flavor of my style of shooting. Too simplistic? Too basic? Comments appreciated as always.

My apologies for those from the Nature and Wildlife forum - this image was posted over there too.

Hey Loupey, I think that evrything here is technically great- the only thing I'd llike to see is a tighter crop. (personal preference )

    Great macro work!

While I like the completely oof background I wonder how it would look with all the grass seedhead in better focus. Composition is very nice.

yes, neat shot but I think if you had zoomed in substantially that it would provide a lot more info on the climber, and the picture would not lose anything by not having the bush/grass in the shot. It could be a little sharper also.

Strange shade of green btw... Not that I dont like it, but I just never get colors like this myself. It looks like a color you'd get using a paint program rather than one in nature.

Loupey; I would not wish to alter any part of this one. It is unusual to see the underside of the ladybird for a change also.

    Re: Just Hanging On

Chunk, that's a good question about the seedheads. I wish I had another image to test that idea. Don't know which would have been "better". My gut tells me that that might have competed for too much attention. Thanks for commenting.

GB (and Kristin), at the time, I didn't think about trying to get closer. It was actually quite a breezy day and the little guy was swinging from side to side on that stalk. I wanted to include the other seedheads to try to convey that windy condition (by the angle that they are pointing) and the implied precarious position of the little fella. As for the background color, it is interesting now that you mention it. I have viewed it on three different monitors and the green looks quite different on all of them. When I post process, I typically color balance for the whites (reflection on the hard wing casing) and the blacks (underside) and letting all the intermediate colors fall where they may.

Tom, much thanks for your input and kind words.

    Re: Just Hanging On

This makes me want to get a macro lens! Sure it's simple, but it looks fresh to me. I do agree with GB that the green looks strange, but I think it adds to your pic. I'm not an expert though.
