    JT Sunrise 1

Scanning a few shots from a February Joshua Tree sunrise taken on Kodak 100VS 120mm film with my Mamiya 645. Not sure about this one ... What do you think?

I dig it. I'm a big fan of Joshua tree sunrises and sunsets, and have shot several myslef. Mine are almost alway warm colors, and it's pretty cool to see the vivid blues in what you've captured here. I like your first on the most, and the only thing I'm sure I would change is clone out the lights down in the bottom of the frame.

I'm not sure what I think about that bush though. I'd be nice to see it with out it, but I dunno. Six in one hand, half dozen in the other.

    Very nice captures...

Gb - Great colors and silhouettes. I think I like the first better than the other, but the bush to the right of the tree is a little distracting to me, but it's not a real big deal.

I like the second because the tree's silhouette is more vivid.
I do think its a bit too centered though.

BM, Thanks for looking. I like your sunrise/set shots, .. there's just something about the desert. There's really not much out there - sun, mountains in the distance, a few trees, sand, and shadow. Finding the right composition is tough for me: I think these shots suffer a tad from an 'even' problem. It's always better to have an odd number of big objects in the shot than an even number. Or so I've been told.

Btw, the blues probably come from the film being Ektachrome.

PC, I wonder also if it would have been better w/o the Bush, I mean bush.

Frog - Hey, new avatar... I thought it was someone new on the boards! Yeah I did crop out some of the left side to reduce the centering, but I guess it's still too much. I guess the colors are pretty good.. This sunrise was 'Ok', but I've seen much better. Luck of the draw out there.

I like the position of the tree better in the first, but the colors of the second more. in any case, lovely shot, nice to see blues in a desert setting.
