    Journey

Sorry if this is too big. I had to post this from my blog. This was late afternoon so the sun was pretty bright. I'm still learning how to play around with exposure time and lighting and all that. Any comments would be much appreciated.

    Re: Journey

I like this alot as well. Great framing and just enough detail in the distant scenery to allow the viewer to gaze out and study it. The blown out sky does not bother me, and i like the placement of the girl in the comp. The trees branches are being highlighted and defined very nicely. I would clone out the branches creeping down from the top of the frame as it sort of looks like a mistake in the picture. this is vewry nice, good work. Welcome to the forum

I'm with Gary on cloning out the branshes coming down from the top. The sky is fine by me.

Otherwise its a good capture and the composition and lighting is excellent and allows you to imagine the thoughts going through the persons head.

Very meaningful shot. Those aren't easy to come by. It's great but it does need some maintenance. The branches on the left, top and right gotta go and the shot would be a lot better IMO.

Absolutely beautiful shot!! Congrats on a great capture!! I have nothing to add but also am curious as to what medium you used to achieve it.

I'm not even going to read the other comments until I've made my own. I really like this image very much. First I believe the title to be quite appropriate. The drama and mood are communicated excellently. I don't mind a bit that's it soft and a little washed out as I think that adds to the atmosphere. I love the way the shape of the river (just before it bends) forms an arrow that points the same way as the hiker is looking. Very dramatic image and well worth the hike to get it.

    Re: Journey

That is a very nice image you took. Good job. Also, I don't mind the branches.

I have an LCD, which is a lousy monitor to review images. But, one think I would try though is to add just a little contrast. The images looks a little over exposed. You could do this by clipping a little off the left side of the histogram.

Yep, I agree with everyone...really great job. I don't mind the brightness factor either. I really like the little highlight of light around the person in fact, and the distant scene is beautiful.

Medium refers to what was used to capture the image. Digital? Film?, and if film what type of format. . .35mm, medium format, large format. . .
PS stands for PhotoShop. In case you may not know, it is an image editing program used by many photographers who edit their photos digitally.

thanks gahspidy!! Ok, so i used a digital Nikon 3200 Coolpix. And nope, I didn't photoshop it because, unfortunately, I don't have the funds to buy it, although I've wanted to for a while now. the woes of being in college, haha.

If you are in college I have heard there are discounts offered on Photoshop that bring it into a much more affordable price range. Check around your school.

    Re: Journey

The blow outs in the top right with the branches are distracting, but I think this is a fantastic composition... beautiful.
