    Jada

From a group photo shoot in June. C&Cs welcome. The floor scuffs needed removal n just figured out how to do it.

Great pose. Kinda wish the chair was just about anything but a folding stool, but other than that (and I understand how the group thing goes) love it

pose is good. I would have ask her to put her left hands on her lap where I can see it. chest out and butt out.

camera angle is a bit high
    skin tone is yellowy
a bit flat could use some contouring.

I like the pose GB. facial expression is great also. both her legs and arms/hands are positioned very naturally to me. the first thing that distracted me is the white balance. if you shot this in raw you need to move away from the yellows. other than that, looks pretty nice.

Very nice , very clean shot Greg

I had no suggestions for improvement, but I like reading the comments from everyone else and learning from them.

Did you have to direct her ?

I went to a group shot this weekend, and I struggled trying to direct the models

    Re: Jada

Jet - Thanks, and yep, those group shoots are wild. I sort of like the stool but I can see where others may work even better. I have many variations of this scene and will post more later.

Phil - It is a tad yellow. I can't see the camera being any lower here without looking weird, like I was trying to photograph under her skirt or something. Can't remember the lighting setup, definitely a main to her right, may have been a fill to her left too. I think the hands are OK but agree that it may look even better if it was on her lap, but would that look natural? Hard to guess. This arrangement makes her look somewhat shy.

Liban, Just tried adjusting the RAW version (I shoot both RAW and JPG), and it didn't look right.. back to the drawing board, but I did adjust the original here, desaturing the yellows a bit -- any better? Difference is small. And yeah her facial expression (and head angle) make the shot!

Armando, Thanks.. Are you going to post your images from the shoot?

Now you have a good understanding of the situation at these group shoots! The ones I go to range from feeding frenzies to respectable, but this one was pretty nuts - I arrived late and there was already a very high photographer-to-model ratio in an extremely warm warehouse, making everybody edgy. I didn't direct at all, but what the the other photographers came up with was Ok. I sometimes go 'blank' when trying to pose models in general, even worse at group shoots.

As far as the other photographers, what I find at the group shoots are a range of personalities. Some photographers don't say a word, while others will speak up with good ideas and wait their turn. A few 'alpha' personalities try to dominant the model's time without regard to anyone else; there's different ways to handle this situation, the easiest being to talk to just the organizer and let them deal with it, and sometimes the guy is never invited back if he acts like that more than once. I still grimace when I see certain other photographers at a shoot, but many others are great and will help each other out.
