    Jack-O-Painting

So this is my best shot from my attemps at light painting with a Jack-O-Lantern. Getting the lighting inside the head to be perfect was tricky, but i ended up making a homemade diffuser lens for my flashlight that worked very well. I did a little cut and pasting with this picture to fix some bad spots, hopefully it isnt obvious. This was taken on a little GE Digi-cam with a 30 second exposure time.

I think it works well. I don't see where you cut and pasted. Nice work.

Wow, that's good! If you hadn't mentioned the cut and paste, I wouldn't be looking for it.
Don't worry, I didn't find it and don't care to go over a good photo to find minor flaws.
I don't know what the white things on the right side sticking out of it are? Slight distraction.

I love the way he's lit and the positioning in the frame is quite good also. The only issue I have is the (fake?) snow which seems to place it 'later' in the season than Halloween, but I suppose that this depends on where one lives (I'm originally from Maryland and we never got snow in October).

Another cool suggestion would be to digitally put something in the upper left area .. a witch maybe?

    Re: Jack-O-Painting

Thanks for the replies guys! Glad to hear my cut and paste work isnt obvious, it sticks out to me like a sore thumb but I know where to look! The white light on the right side of the pumpkin is artifacts from my flashlight, Im working on removing them from the picture, I figured they were to distracting. The snow is definetly real haha! Im from colorado and its odd to have a halloween without snow! Its funny how one's location effects expectations of stuff like that. Ill work on adding something of interest in the upper left space of the picture too. Thanks again!

Great photo, the background adds a ton to it. I think I found your cut & pasting although it's not a big deal at all.

The only critique I have for it is to crop off just past the first group of lights from the left side (to minimize the blown out snow)

    Re: Jack-O-Painting

Thanks for the input guys! I used GIMP to make some suggested modifications. Im still learning on advanced photo editing techniques and how to remove stuff like harsh lighting and whatnot so let me know if it looks sloppy. By the way, my previous cut and paste was on the far left (viewers left) side of the pumpkin. The original was blown out so I pasted in a better lit picture of it. But anywho, here is my picture cropped and I tried to remove the white lights that were on the right side of the pumpkin. Thanks guys.

By the way, feel free to edit my photos if you so desire! Thanks!

This is looking fantastic! Love the sky, and removing the little blow-outs was the finishing touch it needed. Really very nice concept and execution on this one

Very clever, and very well executed. Agreed about the light - you did well in the edit.
