I've had a go at some landscape.

took it with my 40-150 at full zoom, 150 and even then had to crop them to cut out some unwanted stuff. Anyway here goes...

The 2nd one works better for me. I love the punch the red truck gives it. Also with less skies it's much better considering the sky is blown out. That's why I hate shooting landscapes on totally cloudy days. partially cloud, i think works really well. I also like the haziness of the background, i think it the stronger colour foreground gives it a good yet subtle separation.

    Dave,

On the first you need to crop half the sky out to make it work. This is the situation where you need a ND Grad. We get this a lot in the UK.

Another option is to take one for the land and one for the sky using a tripod and then merge the two in PP. A method I have used a lot when can't be bothered to take the ND kit with me.

    Nice photo's of rural life.

The dip in the field which hides some of the machinery confused for a short while.

The second works better for me as the color saturation is better and the hay rolls on the trailer aren't right in front of the house.

I prefer the second (though both are good) and agree with Roger about cropping out half the sky. Or maybe try cropping out the entire sky down to the top of the first section of green. That could be cool.

Agree with the rest, the second is a much stronger image. First shot looks like the tractors are buried in the field, as Roger noted. A graduated Neutral Density (ND) or circular polarizer filter would have helped a lot with the sky in both shots.
