    Italy 2: Verona Street Scene

Hi all .. the second image I am putting up for critique. It's a street scene in Verona.

    Any comments are welcome.

    Cheers

Nice "latin" colours on this and there are lots of little things to look at. I'm visualising how this would look without the people and with just the bike, giving us the feel that someone has parked the bike and popped into the cute little bar for a strong one. I like the bar sign pointing to the premises with no name.
Was this taken from the balcony of where you were staying?

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan

It looks as if it has a slight left lean, Mike. Looking at the edge of the street name sign, and the building on the right, I thoguht it was a wide angle shot and the left edge would be similarly inclined in at the top. But the left edge is leaning left too.

I think the woman on the phone is too near the centre, and the man on the left too far left, but I love those colours, and the cobbled street, and the pavement.

What a pretty street. We have to go to Disney to get that look. In a perfect world, I would do away with the walker and keep the lady. As far as the kilter..the right wall and line looks right on as well as the ladies perspective. I Would like to see more of the balconies here. Crisp it up with a nice sharpening!
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!
    Thx, Rod

I'm thinking there is too much contrast and the highlights are blown (on the mans shirt, the sign on the right wall and a white something over the woman's head).
    No, I DON'T need that.

Re: Italy 2: Verona Street Scene

Thanks guys for your helpful comments. The image was taken from the top of the Verona Arena (a Roman arena now used for opera performances). I am inclined to agree about the man on the left - he is a little too close to the edge for my taste (not to mention a tad washed out). So - here is another version with a crop on the left. I am inclined to think that the triangle of the woman, the bike and the sign work pretty well compositionally.

    Cheers

Thanks Greg - I agree. It prints up pretty well too, so I think this will be my final version.

    Mike,

Nice work and I like the new crop. Excellent colours.
