    The irises have invaded!

There's thousands of irises like this in bloom all over the county. They're everywhere, from wooded hillsides to roadsides to yards, to abandoned lots-- it's like an invasion! This one caught my eye after a rain, as I tromped through the woods, getting soaked but enjoying the wildflowers and photography... I'm posting this in hopes of getting some advice on the angle- does this work?

I love this angle, and having the other one in the right is a perfect framing subject. Love the colors, though a tad cliche, it works.

    Nice shooting,

I thought the angle was just a little boring, but I tried like a billion different ones before I settled on this. And YES! it's a cliche! Thanks for pointing that out- I tend to fall into a rut with classic subjects, and this is just another stinkin' flower shot. Nothing really interesting unless you love shots of pretty flowers... I liked the water drops, and the colors, but I will admit it's not all that creative. Any ideas on how to make an image like this less cliche and more original? These flowers are still around, so I'd love to go out and get a better shot... thanks!

There was one shot that I saw a while back from a friend who I think got rid of the 'cliche' feeling. He shot from underneath the flower, looking up, and incorporated the sun into it. It was almost a silhoutte, yet you could still see the water droplets. Some neat and interesting to try for sure!

    Nice shot,

    Jared

I would lighten up the background some. It seems a tad dark for such a lovely flower. Your exposure for the flower is spot on, so don't mess with it. I would play around with backgrounds mostly. Make the background interesting, and then you won't have a cliche. Good work.

Color, tone and texture are just great in this image. I love the iris as subject an ours are just starting to bloom. They are a challenge, but I don't find you approach at all boring. Beautiful image of a beautiful flower. Nice work.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

That is a very nice shot. To me, there is something about this one that separates it from all the rest. I'm not sure what, but it did catch my eye. I don't know if it is the yellow transitioning to violet, or the darker background. I wouldn't change any of these levels. My only comment is that the crop may be to close to the bottom petal.

    Cheers,

I find this to be a nice shot. Pleasing soft color and soft lighting. The water droplets are a huge plus here and as Jared stated the other flower in the corner balances it well. I agree the bottom petal is maybe too close to the frame, but acceptable. Good
